What is #SheDoes?
Simple, we the people of Los Angeles have had enough. There are 6,700 women living unsheltered on our streets by official count. By unofficial count, including the women crashing on couches and sleeping in cars, we probably have over 30,000 women in this City and over 50,000 in this County. These women are continuously exposed to extreme violence and sex crimes.
The #SheDoes movement exists to promote the rapid sheltering of these unsheltered and unprotected women until they move into stable housing. Whether it be working with City and County leaders, or pressuring them to work, #SheDoes is our responsibility to respond to this Crisis.
Mayor Garcetti, elected by us light of the homelessness problem, is the one person in the perfect position to lead Los Angeles out of Homelessness. As of 02/18/2018, his administration is working with us towards the possibility of keeping three Armories which house three Winter Shelters open all year round as shelters for women.
With or without Mayor Garcetti, our first goal is simple — to have 1,000 homeless women sheltered & protected by August 2018.
Currently, Monday Night Mission, L.A. on Cloud9, Pauly’s Project, A Million Drops & Operation Healthy Hearts are the organizations behind the #SheDoes campaign.
